OJ0 closing in

Time flies fast, and it’s almost March already. At the time of writing this, it’s just 12 weeks until we start driving towards southern Sweden, with Market Reef as our destination, and one week with constant radio operation from a reef in the middle of nowhere. Sounds a bit crazy when put like that, but we’re all super excited and are really looking forward to this event.

We have scheduled a meeting on March 8th to discuss all the practical details regarding transportation, antennas, coaxial cables, radios, power amplifiers, PCs for logs, food, snacks, as well the “what if’s”. We will compile a checklist to tick and complete in good time before we all fasten our seat belts on May the 19th.

We have settled on using our personal (CEPT) callsigns for this DXpedition. You can be on the lookout for:

  • OJ0/LA1UW
  • OJ0/LA3WAA
  • OJ0/LB5SH
  • OJ0/LB0VG

For QSL info check with each individual operator.

As previously mentioned, the main focus on activity will be SSB, CW, and FT8 on 80-4m. 2m is still under consideration. 160m is neither planned nor a priority, but who knows what will happen after a beer or two.

In the next OJ0 post I’ll talk more about the technical details; antennas, radios, amplifiers, and so on.
