OJØT QRT

The OJØT DXpedition is now over, and we had a great time.

We arrived Friday the 26th, early evening, one day earlier than planned. This gave us time to rig our antennas and be QRV shortly after, even though the setup was not optimal. By the end of the mission we had over 25,000 QSOs in the log!

This was also the first time I tried calling CQ on CW. Prior to that I had only called in on DX stations giving a quick 5NN TU, so I was quite anxious on how this would turn out. Two weeks of intensive training with “Pileup Runner 1.4” was definitely worth the effort, and turns out to be an extremely realistic tool for training. The pileups on CW were so massive I had to use a visualizer in addition to using my ears. I do not have the proper training to be able to isolate one station from another, in addition to having bad hearing and tinnitus in the first place. Those of you who have met me in person may have noticed that I often look at your mouth while you’re talking. Now you know why, and yes, it’s that bad.

I’ve updated the DXpedition webpage https://oj0.no/ with a brief summary and pictures from the trip. We have hundreds of more pictures that may be released later.

To all of you who called in, thank you. I’m exhausted but very happy.

I just wnto to say Thank You!

Do not listen to those morons calling this “Worst Expedition Ever”.

You did a great job indeed.

I know my 20m SSB QSO was with Stian because he told so to someone asking operator’s name, it would be nice to know who was the operator for my 80m CW QSO as well.

I will look forward for your next one (I miassed you on 12 and 15m CW)

    1. Hi Dave,

Thank you for the kind words! 🙂
Yes, I think I remember our QSO on 20m – pleasure was all mine! Hope to catch you again sometime, either from home or some (hopefully) interesting DX entity.
